Psychosocial and Drinking factors related to Internet Gambling Addiction for Adults in their 20s

Abstract
Internet gambling addiction has increased through the rapid internet. This study aims to examine the relating psychosocial and drinking factors of internet gambling addiction in early adulthood. Data for this study wore collected through the use of survey instrument completed by 393 samples aged 20-29 with experience of internet gambling during 1 year. The findings of this study were as follows: First, subjects showed 5 times higher problem gambling and pathological gambling prevalence than general gambling prevalence among 20s. Second, male, more higher monthly income group showed more higher internet gambling addiction.. Third, problem gambling and pathological gambling group showed more lower self-control, self-efficacy, social support and more higher problem drinking than social ¡¤entertainment group. Fourth, more higher self-control, self-efficacy, peer support were significantly related to the lower internet gambling addiction and more higher significant others support, more higher problem drinking were significantly related to more higher internet gambling addiction. Based on these findings, the research discussion reduced the high risk of internet gambling addiction and suggested effective intervention programs for the mental health social worker.
